I think one of the most annoying things in an airplane are those people who consider suitcases as hand luggage.
I quite often was in the situation that I wanted to store my laptop in the luggage compartment and had difficulties to find a place, because it was already fully packed with those little suitcases.
Airlines should either buy planes with bigger luggage compartments or have rules which are more strict concerning the hand luggage.

"Taking off shoes" increases the comfort on a long term flight.
And it may cause you pain when you put them on again.
Due to the 0,8 or 0,9 bar air pressure in the aircraft, your body (including your feet) will swell a little bit. If your shoes are exact and well-fitted, you will have trouble getting back into them.
So keep them on or use comfortable shoes like sneeakers or slippers.

“Taking off shoes” is the clue: some people don´t care if their seat neighbour has to smell their feet the whole flight long by taking off their shoes especially for long distant flights. Those socks they offer in the business class won´t help: some people have a serious problem with sweaty feet and they simply should not take off their shoes. Or use something against it.
Taking off shoes in a plane is not a sign of respect – I had a good laugh on that – it´s a sign of ignorance!
